Places Please! was a sophisticated treat for savvy dance fans and newcomers alike.

Set backstage during the final moments before the curtain rises, this cabaret-style performance is a zany trip backstage, making you privy to the anxiety and playfulness of life behind the scenes. Featuring a musical score that ranges from Broadway classics, to contemporary classical music, to ‘80s pop hits, you’ll be hard-pressed to not dance in your seat. The result is a buzz-worthy cocktail of biting satire, quick-witted physical comedy, and gentle moments of deep pathos set to capture the parallel and intersecting paths of a dynamic creative process and relationship.

KEIGWIN + COMPANY was founded in 2003 by Artistic Director Larry Keigwin after he met Nicole Wolcott at the 2001 Bates Dance Festival in Maine. The energetic duo creates and presents Keigwin’s electrifying and refreshing vision of dance, embodying a theatrical sensibility of wit, style, and heart.

In this production that pulls you behind the scenes and eviscerates the 4th wall, Keigwin and Wolcott deliver sly laughs, dry humor, touching moments, and a depth of reality that is usually reserved for rehearsals or the backstage crew. Dance Enthusiast called the performance “a love letter to the stage.” The two-person cabaret showcases “the ups and downs of making dance and making it in New York’s dance world, told through movement and memories culled from [Keigwin and Wolcott’s] 16-year collaboration,” writes the New York Times. It’s a campy snapshot of the creative process, and a tribute to a long, entertaining friendship.”
