WPKN’s Black History Month Celebration

Join us as we experience an evening of favorite works by the acclaimed Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. Prior to the performance, guests can purchase tickets to attend a VIP Reception with proceeds going to support future WPKN Black History Month programs.

A longtime partner and collaborator with the Quick, WPKN is a nonprofit, community radio station established in 1963 and based in downtown Bridgeport (89.5-FM). WPKN covers cover Fairfield, New Haven, and Litchfield counties in Connecticut and Suffolk county in New York.

As part of WPKN’s Black History Month Celebration, WPKN pays tribute to African American men and women who have made significant contributions to America and the rest of the world in the fields of science, politics, law, sports, the arts entertainment, and other fields. The culmination of this month-long celebration is a transformative evening of favorite works by the acclaimed Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company from New York. Proceeds from the evening support future WPKN Black History Month programs.

Bill T. Jones is a choreographer, MacArthur Genius Fellow, two-time Tony Award-winner, author, and cofounder of the Bill T. Jones /Arnie Zane Dance Company who has been called "one of the most notable, recognized modern-dance choreographers and directors of our time” by The New York Times.

For every ticket purchased, two free tickets will be provided for Bridgeport Public School students who participate in FAME Academy.
