Pianists Frederic Chiu and Orin Grossman present a program of music for one piano, four hands, and two pianists. The program will include Franz Schubert’s brilliant Fantasy in F Minor for four hands, Claude Debussy’s stunning En Blanc et Noir, one of his last and greatest compositions, and George Gershwin’s An American in Paris, in a special version for two pianos by the composer.
Orin Grossman has performed the music of George Gershwin around the world, including the Russian premiere of Gershwin’s Second Rhapsody for Piano and Orchestra. He is professor emeritus at Fairfield University.
Frederic Chiu’s recent recording, Distant Voices, pairs the music of Debussy with the contemporary Chinese composer Gao Ping. His 10-CD set of the complete works of Prokofiev is considered by many to be the definitive recording.
