Open VISIONS Forum: An Evening with David Gans and Nicholas Meriwether with special guest Jeff Mattson of Dark Star Orchestra.

Whether you’re a Boomer from the era of anti-war peace signs, tie-dye, love-ins and psychedelic art or a Millennial of the ‘jam band’ generation, the Grateful Dead are unquestionably America’s greatest road band. Not a ‘Deadhead?’ You’ll be entertained and enthralled by a musical legacy spanning jazz, folk, country western and their uniquely experimental ‘San Francisco Acid Rock Sound.’ After last year’s 50th reunion, hailed by Rolling Stone as the ‘popular culture event of the year,’ unprecedented critical attention has focused on the Grateful Dead’s widespread impact on American culture, art and musical heritage.

To celebrate the ‘Deads’ legacy, come enjoy a special musical performance by David Gans, co-host of Sirius XM radio’s ‘Tales from the Golden Road.’ Joining the conversation is Nicholas Meriwether, revered ‘rock scholar’ and band-appointed Official Grateful Dead Archivist. Adding to the fun will be the “remarkably gifted” Jeff Mattson, who has toured internationally recreating memorable Dead shows as lead guitarist for Dark Star Orchestra.

Post-event there will be an after-party or 'hootenanny' in the Quick Center lobby with music led by Gans and Mattson, with some special friends and drinks and food for all.

Come be part of the ‘tribe’ – join the spirited high along with ‘Uncle John’s Band!’
