Presented by the Fairfield University College of Arts & Sciences MFA Program in Creative Writing and their Inspired Writers Series in collaboration with the Irish Studies Program.

The acclaimed Irish writer Claire Kilroy comes to America with Soldier Sailor, her astonishing and provocative novel about the early days of motherhood. Already declared the London Times Novel of the Year, and named a Best Book of the Year by The Guardian, Financial Times, The Economist, The Irish Times, The Daily Telegraph and others, she will discuss her new work with Fairfield professor and National Book Award-winning author Phil Klay.

Kilroy is the author of five novels including Soldier Sailor, All Summer, Tenderwire, and The Devil I Know. She was awarded the Rooney Prize in 2004 and has been shortlisted for many other prizes, including the Irish Novel of the Year and the Kerry Group Irish Fiction Award. She studied at Trinity College and lives in Dublin.
