Tony Award-winning composer Jeanine Tesori debuts her powerful new opera, Grounded, at the Metropolitan Opera. The production grapples with 21st-century warmaking's ethical and psychological complexities, featuring Canadian mezzo-soprano Emily D'Angelo as a fighter pilot grounded by pregnancy, alongside American tenor Ben Bliss as Wyoming rancher Eric. Directed by Michael Mayer, the high-tech staging offers varied perspectives on the narrative. Met Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts Tesori's opera, live from the Met stage.
